Common Privacy Edge Uses

Common ways our clients are deriving value from the Privacy Edge platform.

Scenario 1:

"We want to know if the Facebook pixel is on our site and what it's doing."
In recent months, we have seen a spate of lawsuits and regulatory action related to the Meta pixel collecting and sharing of data without user consent, which is especially concerning for organizations in highly regulated industries like healthcare and financial services.
First, we saw class action lawsuits related to the pixel, and more recently, we have seen healthcare providers treat the unauthorized Meta pixel activity as a data breach.
Many clients want to quickly understand whether they have the pixel on their site and whether it could be sharing sensitive and protected information with Facebook. With Privacy Edge, you can quickly identify if the pixel is present, which pages it is on, and whether or not there is a form or any other source of sensitive data being collected and shared from the same page as a tracker.

Scenario 2:

"We want to continuously monitor our sites and report on all of the trackers and cookies on our site and what they do!"
A one-time scan is a great start to understanding what threats may be on your website, what data is collected, and if and where it is shared. The problem with stopping there is that cookies and trackers are constantly changing. This could be through authorized changes - like the marketing team adding new technology to the site or maybe one of the existing trackers or cookies updating their technology that affects what data that tracker is now collecting and/or with whom they are sharing that data. In addition, these third parties can introduce new downstream data partners at any point. Without continuous monitoring, you wouldn't know that happened. On the far more nefarious end of things, if a third party were to become infected with malware we monitor for, a continuous scanning and monitoring solution would be the only way to find that change when it happens.

Scenario 3:

"We want to ensure that our site complies with our privacy policy and that we're not unintentionally sharing data with 3rd parties."
Part of several compliance regulations like CPRA, HIPAA, Wiretapping laws, etc., is that businesses need to disclose the information they are collecting, many of which do this through a privacy policy made accessible through their website. While some cookie consent platforms can provide an inventory of cookies on the website, there are other types of ad tech and points of data collection - like session recording tools, trackers, pixels and fingerprinters, and forms and other sources of data input that collect and potentially share data in addition to cookies. Privacy Edge can provide an entire inventory of these data collection points and analyze if any third parties share data with other entities. You can use this information to update your privacy policy or use Privacy Edge blocking technology to block data from being shared with any unauthorized third party.

Scenario 4

"We want to keep an eye on all 1,200 of our various websites and identify any privacy threats."
Privacy Edge's portfolio view feature makes it easy to identify and prioritize privacy risks at a glance across your portfolio of sites. In one dashboard view, see major alerts across all sites. You also get a table view of every site you monitor and sort by risk type, number of risks, or privacy risk score.
