September 19, 2024 - Release Notes

This month, we've focused on making it easier for users to identify critical privacy risks on their sites or portfolios. We’ve also streamlined access to insights relevant to your specific industry.

New! Critical Alert Types in Dashboard and Reports

We've expanded the "Critical Alert" features in Privacy Edge to help users quickly spot important issues. This now includes more social media scripts like embedded Twitter/X widgets and Facebook comment plugins, alongside the existing TikTok and Meta pixel alerts.

We've also added a new critical alert for domain hijacking, a security risk where a domain is taken over without permission.

Industry Classification Improvements

Automated Classification

Privacy Edge can now more reliably determine and set your industry by using the site name, homepage meta description, title, and top words found across the site—previously, it relied only on top words. These enhancements improve the accuracy of automated industry classification, though we still recommend manual classification for the most precise results. Setting your organization's industry will customize insights based on the regulations specific to that industry.

New Industry Categories for Healthcare

New healthcare laws are broadening the scope of businesses covered, and we’ve updated the product to reflect these changes. Certain types of data sharing will now be classified as critical risks for the following industries:

  • Healthcare
  • Pharmaceutical
  • Medical Devices and Supplies
  • Biotechnology
  • Wellness and Fitness
